Now I don't know if anyone will know the answer to this, but I used an
ABA coolant pump because I was going with the ABA acc setup.  Is the
shaft length different on the 16v pump?

That might be way things seem off to me...I'd hate to have to rip
everything off to replace a brand new water pump :(

The inner belt on the crank goes around the water pump and up to the AC 
comp.
The out belt on the crank goes around the water pump and down to the P. 
Steering pump.
A third, shorter belt goes from the AC comp (inner pulley) up to the 
alternator.
