RE: Need advice badly on plug wire issue
Just pull off the VC and cover everything else up with a rag. You should
be fine.. You can you a drywall screw (more bite) into the middle of the
broken portion and work it loose with a set of vice grips.
2 screws in would work even better.

Do you mean the valve cover? No - it's not terribly difficult to remove,
but the car's outside and I don't want to expose the inside to any
debris if possible. But that is my last resort though!
Thanks for the input - Jeff

I'd drill into it and hook it its only plastic. I wouldn't be concerned
about scuffing up the spark plug hole. Is the primary cover diffiicult
to remove?
Good luck.

Subject: SOT: Need advice badly on plug wire issue
Hi all - I was trying to change the plug wires on my M5 (a DOHC
engine). Plug wires shouldn't be _that_ hard to change, right?
Well - this is a new one to me. Check this out:
http://validpath.com/images/M5/brokewire.JPG
Yes - the receptable in the plug wire on the #2 cylinder completely
severed while I was trying to remove it! F*CK!
The rubber boot from the wire and the lower half of the receptacle are
still mated to the plug and is flush with the plug recess:
http://validpath.com/images/M5/plugrecess.JPG
Should I:
A) try to tap a hole into the receptacle and get a screw in there? I
have a pointed punch that I can reach w/ it (barely)...
B) try to fuse the wire back to the receptacle with some epoxy?
I've already tried using long hemostats, but I can't get enough of a
grab...
Any suggestions?? :(
Thanks, jeff
