Acid Dipping Engines

I should add that having a block that fits in a laundry tub is probably 
pretty helpful.  I filled the water jacket, let it sit, drain, 
neutralize effluent, repeat.  Not much volume, less than a pint did it.

To get a whole VW block clean enough to paint or eat off, you would be 
wise to send it to an engine shop where they have a big dipping tank 
with safety stuff and stuff.  I wouldn't want you to get burned over 80% 
of your body or anything. ;)
