The view of Cincy '05 from Cincy

Dee, you forgot that the speeding ticket saved 3 sciroccos on the way down.

Props go to Don Walters for telling me to slow down on the way home(racing me with a tranny in the trunk and keeping up, nice work on the rocco Don). Parker for switching from calling me Mr. VR6 to Mr. Bill Engvall (try changing an engine belt with the motor running, it's like a machine or somethun!)

Rhett, I hope the brake lights on the Z24 are fixed in the next 360 days!

Nate, shit, I know you're going back next year.

Jim Jarrett would have made it a complete weekend.

Seeing Camissa, Harder, and Potter in the autox, priceless!

Let me start by saying this was probably one of the best
years so far. The whole feeling was very laid back and
(dare I say) peaceful. (are we getting old or something?)
Mind you there was still some antics going on - whenever
you get people like Anson or Cammisa involved things won't
stay quiet.

This year started, as is tradition, on Thursday evening. I
got a phone call from Eric aka Saltyweasel around 4:30
saying that he and Katy had just checked into the Ramada,
making them the first arrivals. I was still in "OMG I've
got to finish getting everything prepped" mode but they got
me to calm down and relax a bit. Cathy / Drew / George
pulled in right on time at about 1 a.m.

The weather looked iffy on Friday morning when driving out
to breakfast - we actually only got about 30 seconds of
rain though. People started rolling in at a steady rate
around noon this year too, which is a bit of a switch.
Usually people don't start getting here 'til 3-4 in the
afternoon. But it was cool, that meant more time to hang
and talk 'rocco. Dinner arrived at about 8:00 via Passat
Wagon, thanks to Brad & his connections with a local
pizzeria. Perhaps a few too many pizzas this year...
we'll re-adjust accordingly next time. At least they were
really cheap, and still piping hot. :)

Saturday was more of the same, with many folks into the
beer long before noon. I was surprised at the low number
of tech procedures going on - Julie wins the prize this
year for most done. (Although the wrenching award actually
went to Dan Bubb for his completion of a project the night
before Cincy.) The backyard mayhem this year spelled out
".org" - hopefully this (in combination with 2003's
"Scirocco") will make it into a t-shirt design... hint
hint. It looked good from the air, I'm anxious to see some
of the pics. And I want to publicly apologize AGAIN to
Cathy for the post-landing turbulence - she hadn't gotten
herself buckled into the back of the Passat before I made a
tight 180 and she rolled across the back seat and into the
door. I expect I'll never hear the end of it.

Shortly after teardown of the backyard, dinner was served
again thanks to Brad, with help from Tonee, Ellen and my
mother. "Awards" were handed out to the most deserving (?)
people as well. The party continued into the night, with
some videos shown on the garage door for good measure. One
year I'll actually get that organized so there's a string
of entertaining stuff put together beforehand so we're not
searching drives for material while everyone falls asleep.
By the time "Dubbed" started, many had either left or gone
into conversation amongst themselves. Oh well, sorry!
It's hard to please everyone!

Sunday saw most of the group back again, and then a steady
stream of departures. For the few who stayed into the
afternoon, the highlights (?) were abusing the dune buggy
and general trying to stay cool from the 90 degree heat &
humidity. In the end, it was Jason Cammisa who was the
last to leave, hitting the road around noon on Monday.

So another Cincy has come and gone, with no major trauma,
only one speeding ticket, and a hell of a lot of beer
bottles to haul to the curb. You guys never cease to amaze
me at the amount of beer you drink.

So when's Cincy '06?
