2.0l vs. 1.8l 16V Distributor, any difference?
No, the later style is better, because there are no wires to break.
The early 16V Scirocco distributors did not have mechanical advance,
Volkswagen was just using up the old pickups, before they changed to the
molded one piece sending unit.

Is there any advantage to having or not having the 'advance' you mentioned?
Thanks, Rick.

There's a slight difference...
If you have a late 16V Scirocc distributor, then it's identical.
If not, it's still functionally the same.
The late 16V Scirocco distributors do not have any exposed wires inside the
the distributor.
The hall sender is not designed to rotate(advance) like the earlier type,
it's one solid piece of plastic, and right next to the connector.

Is there any difference or advantage between the 2.0l 16V distributor and
the distributor on the 1.8l 16V? I know the 2.0l is Motronic and the 1.8l
is CIS-E however; is the only difference the sensor on one of the plug wires
and not with the distributor?
Thanks, Rick.
