plastic face will make them operate like new.

Thanks for the response, Dan. I did that first.  It's a relatively simple
piece.  I cleaned it and lube it, but I can hear it leaking.  I reopened it
again and stretched the spring a bit for additional pressure against the
diverter.  Slightly better, but same problem.  When I originally opened the
controller, a thin, long (relatively) piece of rubber came out.  It's this
piece that makes me believe that no amount of lubing and pressure is going
to make this thing work again.
