Was: question about oil filter change, now: different question about oil filter change

Simply put, FRAMS suck donkey dick. You would get more filtering ability
from a toilet paper roll if you could properly mount one...

If you must go aftermarket, use a Bosch filter. They hoar-out their name,
yes. But I have cut open one, and it looks nearly identical to a factory
one inside.

Mann or Mahle are factory filters sold to the aftermarket, and are good
choices. A dealer SHOULD have a factory filter on the shelf, and normally
if you buy three or more, they will give you a discount, say to jobber.
Here, that turns out to be 6.25 ea or so. Yes, the FRAM is cheaper, but I
would bet your motor is worth more than 4.50.... ;-)

My not-so-humble thoughts on filterage...

I would be quite surprised if the Fram does NOT have a pressure relief
valve.
Either way, the lack of a PRV would not deter me from using a particular
filter. That valve is there to allow oil to bypass/flow through the filter
in the event the filtering media was clogged with particulates. My guess is
that it would take upwards of 30,000 miles on a filter to achieve that
state.
Do you change your filter more often than that?
  I do, too. :)

Use the Mann or Mahle with the relief valve. My local autozone or
kragen does not carry them at all so I either buy online or from a
German auto parts store in LA.
