Wow, what a drive....
Here is my road trip r?sum?:
Longest straight shot: June 2002, solo in my RIP 16v Scirocco from
Philadelphia, PA to Las Vegas, NV in 39 hours, 4 of which were sleep on the
side of the road in Kansas. I averaged 64 MPH overall (including the sleep)
71 MPH for driving time and stops alone. I drove REAL fast and stopped very
little! Friends of mine bragged about doing Vegas to Philly in 50 hours for
2 years before I took this trip. They no longer brag.
Longest single day: May 2004 solo in my RIP C230 from Columbus, OH to 30 mi
west of Larime, WY through Denver in 20 hours. 1,450 miles. Average 72.5 MPH
taking it easy on the throttle with only three <15 minute stops.
Fastest average: January 2002 solo in my RIP 16v from Langhorne, PA (north
of Philadelphia) to Wexford, PA (north of Pittsburgh), 325 mi in 3 hours 55
minutes including a gas stop and getting lost for few minutes in the last
mile. Average 83 MPH. Amazing I am not in jail for that one.
Longest road trip to date: 6,500+ miles in my C230 from Philadelphia to
NorCal to San Diego and back. Done in 9 days in May 2004 in my C230.
Nonstop: Burlington, VT (home of the cost factory) to Philadelphia, PA in
Feb 2005 without stopping once. ~400 miles in 6.5 hours, much of which was
in the snow. Done in my bunny truck.
Nonstop: Philadelphia, PA to Avon, NC (outer banks) without stopping even
once. ~410 miles in <7 hours, done in my bunny truck.
Other: I know I did a Columbus, OH to Denver, CO trip in October 2004 in
Jason Arms' former 16v and did good time but I don't remember it.
Other: Solo from Kiel, Germany to Puttgarden, Germany a short ferry into
Denmark, through Copenhagen then to Gothenburg, Sweden to Hamburg, Germany
to Berlin Germany. Two days for 1650 km (1,025 miles) all in my RIP C230.
Other: Stutensee, Baden-W?rttemberg, Germany (Dirk's house) to Wolfsburg,
Germany (not sure what is there :-) AND BACK in the same day. 1,000+ KM
(625+ miles) in total with Dirk and Jasin in my RIP C230 but I was the only
driver.
Next planned trip: Philadelphia to Prudhoe Bay, AK, many, many stops in
between, and back to Philadelphia. 11,000+ miles total and planned for April
2006 in and to be done in <3 weeks. Unknown what vehicle I will take.
Trip after that: Philadelphia to San Diego in July 2006.
Regrets: I've never been able to make to or from Cincy to/from Philly
non-stop. 550 miles is just too much for any fuel tank in any car I've ever
owned.
Jon Van Vuren (remember him?) is the only person that comes close to this
list!

None. Twas my brother, his dog, all his shit, and me. We each did 500+
miles, then switched off about every four hours. Longest stop was 45 in
Memphis, TN for breakfast. And the fog in the mountains of VA didn't help.
We would have taken 70 all the way, but it was closed from Denver to Kansas,
hence the move south to I-40.
