Was: Can I get a pice check at register 2? Now: Door Cards and Color Schemes
Well... as far as the difference between leather and non leather seats and
the door cards... it may be that the car in question had/has TAN or other
colored leather door cards and he was attempting to swap out with black
leather.
There shouldn't be any difference on what the seat material is made from. I
don't think I have ever seen a 16v (that started life as a 16v) that wasn't
done in black leather on the inside with the exception of the rare cloth
seat. DISCLAIMER: Not that I have seen ALOT of Scirocco's, but I have seen a
few... just my unsolicited two cents.
My 85 is done in dark brown leather and baby-shit tan carpet. (at least
that's what it looks like now.) I shitcanned the 8v dash and the original
seats (they were about done) and I got a set of 16v door cards front and
rear... I am just waiting to see what the future holds for employment before
I gut and redo. I have new black carpet and just about everything else I
need except the black carpeting by the rear speakers. (hint hint) However I
am an idiot and crushed the plastic backing on one of the rear cards. I am
hoping like hell that it will still fit and/or that I can salvage it from
the brown ones. Once I have the interior blacked out, I am debating on what
to do with the exterior... I think that the 8v looks pretty decent in the
burgundy color but I know that I don't want to paint it black without a 16v
body kit. To me the 16v's look really good in Black, White and Red, but the
8v's... they have a different look. Basic black doesn't do it for me, nor
does white. (maybe that is a mental aversion to the wolfies) I can't picture
my car with anything other than burgundy except maybe a custom (non stock)
color scheme. Deep royal blue? I thought about a radical red/white/blue
fading flag pattern but it doesn't seem quite right to have US colors on a
german car. Definately intend to powdercoat the rims black and redo the
bumpers in flat black. And oh yea... the lens holders. I have been painting
them forever--I need to powdercoat them too.
Sorry too long and semi off topic
