Good night, Good morning,and then...(longish)

Friday was just another day to mark off the calendar, until I decided to
browse the "favorites" list I've spent some time compiling. It was only
after about an hour of browsing sites, filing some videos on the hard drive,
and general car related inspiration that I had had enough. I couldn't stand
it any longer, I had to get my hands dirty.
I've been chasing rust through the fuel system of my 79 for some time now,
and recently replaced the fuel dizzy without much luck in conquering the
sputter. Next step was the injectors, as they are the terminal end of the
system. Out come four Coke bottles, off with the intake boot, unplug the
coil, and turn on the pump. Just as I suspected, two with a decent pattern,
and two spewing drops. Without many real tools here, the visual inspection
and comparison would have to do. Along comes the idea, how about just
running more pressure through them than they will see everyday. In the hopes
that some of the garbage keeping me from my usual enjoyment of driving would
be dislodged, I gave it a shot. Raise the flap all the way up, and fill the
bottles. I didn't see much improvement in pattern, but noticed they all shot
about the same amount in the long run. Check the seals, back in the head
they go, and button up the rest.
Having no real sense of accomplishment with the injectors, I felt the need
for more quality time with my beloved friend. A recent trip to the yard
provided me with another double "87" terminal 30 amp relay, just right for
the amber fogs installed a couple months ago. So I break out the wiring
tools, hunt down a bolt for the relay mount, and begin the task. After
stopping to take care of my thirst, and taking a break for a quick sit down,
I connect the power. Cut off all the zip ties, reshelf the wiring tools, and
flip the switch. Gotta love some bright fogs.

Saturday was a good morning which came to me earlier than usual, and for
good reason. A much anticipated trip to the local yard, and no test flight
the night before left me wanting for wheel time. As I'm preparing to leave,
the resident hater of all things fantastic to me, has an errand for me to
run. A trip to the out-er inlaws house for good old me for a delivery. As I
approach the interstate, with a non sputtering car now- whew, I decide to
take advantage of the opportunity and stretch her legs. I toyed with another
couple of cars that wanted to get somewhere in a hurry also, then found
myself awash in a sea of mall goers, and suv's.
A good trip to the yard was had, found a few things needed, took the long
way home, admiring my handy work with the Coke bottles.
And then... RAIN... AGAIN...AND AGAIN! I try not complain about the
glorious Georgia weather too much, but we've had a little more rain than
usual this year. Sometimes twice a day, and always when I need it to be dry.
Oh I did manage to capture some of the feel of my spirited drive before I
succumb to traffic laws, damn trip reset. ;)
