Baby, it's cold inside!
Charge it with a proper manifold like what Jim listed from HF, with a
can of refrigerant with the UV dye added. Then get one of the little
UV penlights from your FLAPS, run the system for a while and the leak
will scream out at you with the UV light. Usually just o-rings or
seals.

Awesome write-up, how about a tech note on VWC??
Would love to fix my AC myself. Had it topped off a couple winters ago
during some additional repairs, but by the time summer rolled around, I
think everything leaked out because I had no cold.
A major local shop is currently running a coupon for "Free A/C
inspection with approved repairs (value US $55.95)" and I have been
tempted to use it just to get the cold back. But by the time labor plus
parts (prolly cheap aftermarket) plus markup all adds up, the $$
"saved" is likely no money at all. Just not sure how to deal with
leaks...
