Exhausted again
Yup, if you're not planning on swapping in a 16V, or a 2L 8V with crazy cams
in the near future, a 2" exhaust with a Borla muffler is the way to go.
It feels stronger off idle, sounds great, and it's quieter...
I have a new, never installed, 2" stainless TT exhaust, minus the muffler,
that I'm selling for $200 plus shipping, and I have a new Dynomax, I'd sell
for $25. I bought it for my '81 S, but it's going to get a 2L16V soon, and I
was able to sort out the 2" Autotech exhaust, by replacing the muffler and
tailpipe.

If that is all your engine is going to be, 2" is great. 2.25" is better
when you start making 150+hp. Otherwise it is unnecessary and can possibly
(though it is hard to prove) reduce some low-midrange response. I have had
oodles of VWs with 2 nad 2.25". I am fabbing up a 2.5" system for my Dasher
right now, but it s going to be around 200hp.
