There have been many times I was able to loosen a super tight or rusty
fastener with an impact gun, knowing I stood a higher chance of breaking it
by using a breaker bar. The impact action of the gun seems to be less
stressful, torsionally speaking that the static loading of a breaker
bar...I'm sure there's some physics wisdom on the net, maybe by one of the
tool makers, but I'm to damn tired to search right now..
