[engine] '94 passat vr6 no start

   i know that this is not in the realm of cis(-e) sciroccos, but i'm 
hoping there's someone out there who might be able to help.
   my gf's passat decided it didn't want to start this morning. no 
indications that there was a problem. checked for spark. no apparent 
spark. checked for fuel. after a good few minutes of cranking, the plug 
was still dry. the car cranks fine (not a starter problem) but just 
won't catch. i could see it being a fuel pump OR a coil pack, but both? 
if anyone has any ideas, i'd appreciate hearing them. thanx.
