89 cabrio installing megasquirt n spark

I have a 89 cabrio and I'm going to install a 16v motor in it.  do I 
need the 16v side motor mount? it has a 8v motor in so is to my 
knowledge it doesn't have the mounting point for the side mount so would 
I need to weld the mount on?
