Poor presentation of what you are offering. Serving an expensive
lobster dinner on a paper plate with plastic utensils. Serving a
really good champaign in a plastic cup. Showing up for a clerical job
interview in your greasy jeans and a dirty tee shirt. Appearances
count. Top posting makes you appear to be uniformed about basic
netiquette. Someone might conclude if you haven't bothered to learn
that, you might be no more informed about whatever subject you're
commenting on.
Go to Google (web), enter "netiquette" and you'll find some very good
references on how to present your information in simple text.
Now go to Google (groups), enter "top posting" and you will find some
of the most vitriolic flame wars you can imagine on the subject.
Then you'll probably understand why it's a no-win subject for any
group.
