LOL!! and weekend update

So I'm sitting here with "Dell" on my lap, procrastinating on marking, and
hear this "Sha-la-la-la-la-la-la" coming from somewhere...then I hear the
unmistakeable whine of a 16V...it's Anson's DuRocco video, it took three
hours to upload, I forgot until it started, too funny....

Anyway, this weekend, the project was Klaus, again, I rewired the
headlights so now the blinding Hella H4s are in the outer position, and
the wimpy sealed dual filaments are in the inner position, with their low
filament on a separate switch. (So now low can be two or four lamps, on
demand). This meant rewiring the low relays from left/right to
inner/outer, and finding a suitable switch. Of course the 80 was a willing
donor of a factory foglamp switch (a very nice surprise), but to remove it
involved completely destroying the (obviously not stock) Ford radio that
was in there, to get to the switch. So now I have a second position for
some foglamps I guess.

The fuel leaks are all sealed up, which is good. So Sunday I headed up to
Drew's for the last of the ignition upgrades, the knock sensor. Of course,
I was in denial about how bad Klaus' battery really was, and had a half
hour delay to wire the headache's battery in, it didn't fit properly
without "modification". Three hours of chuggy driving, followed by tech
proceduring, and test driving. LM tell you, a little 8V can generate
enough G's to push the passenger's seat to the very back of the rails, and
"certain people who shall remain nameless but are usually driving a diesel
Scirocco" can simultaneously bury the tach well into the shaded zone, grin
in a maniacal manner, AND break the speedometer cable. Quite a talent.
(who says 8Vs don't rev?) The trip back with no speedo and lights out on
the tach side was interesting. And traction was nowhere to be found ;)
There's still a small sputter, it may be mixture, but the car's happier.
And one of those mini Braille batteries is on order, I'll let you know how
it works out.

Oh, and I committed a sin, drove Klaus in <gasp> snow. Not enough to
accumulate, but still snow. Blech. The headache of course stayed home,
without her battery. She'll get me for that no doubt.
