Old VW Automatics - Care and Feeding

Seeing as how we have a 'new' 87 Auto in the fold (congrats) and there 
is an otherwise fine Auto Rabbit in my backyard, I wanted to go over 
care and maintenance of old VW automatics.

Here is what I have picked up:



- There is a seal between the ATF and the Differential oil that fails 
and allows the two to mix. This is death to autos.



Anybody have anything else?
