1991 Jetta Q's
Julie,
My 16V 2.0L does something similar. Not all the time and with no regularity
that I have yet been able to figure out. Had Al work on mine to try to
figure it out. Ran ALL the Bentley tests, replaced a few parts and
discovered that some of the wiring from the computer to the air flow sensor
was reversed. (Al, help me out here.) Any who... To make a long story short
while Al's test piece was in, the car performed consistently like a wild
beast. Al's test piece out and wires switched at end to air flow sensor to
correct the problem... Still does it every so often. Not as bad as it once
was, but still rears is annoying head once in a while....
The typically silent,
Dave

I was offered a 1991 Jetta with 2L 16v engine. $500-600 as is...
The PO says that it will start and run through the gears the first time, but
have a tendancy to sputter after 3 k when warm.
Any ideas guys?
I want to pull the MKI from the road and use this as a winter beater.
