Stainless Steel bolts

ok, beware here, i learned a bunch about bolts when researching replacements
for the rieger wheel socket head cap screws. i had planned on going with
18-8 stainless. i even bought a few and did some destructive testing. while
the stainless may come close to the strength of steel, it requires greater
torque to achieve the same preload / clamping force. in the case of the
rieger wheels, i could not go with stainless, because after factoring in the
"K-value" (the excess torque required to achieve the desired preload), i was
actually yielding / stretching the bolts beyond their limits.

page shows ratings of various bolts).
