Seen on eBay/ Now My Target Experience

ESP, A.K.A.:

Electronic Stability Program (ESP)
Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC)
Electronic Skid Protection (ESP)

Whatever you call it, Daimler-Benz was the first to put it on a car. A bit
after releasing the first A class (not sold in North America) cars they
found out that it had a deadly body roll problem. After a quick swerve and
an immediate swerve to the opposite direction the car had an tendency to
roll. This was a huge liability and embarrassment. DB had been developing an
ESP product for years but quickly completed development and deployed on the
A class when this problem was found, retrofitting it onto the ABS of
vehicles already in the field.

I loved ESP on my old C230, it saved my ass a number of times! The first
night I had the car I nearly drove off of the side of the
Schwarzwaldhochstrasse (Black Forest High Road), but ESP gave me the control
to get off a loose surface and back onto the road.

Just ask Scott Williams, he was driving my C230 while I was a passenger, did
a 540? spin on a wet curve downhill with ESP off. If the ESP was on this
definitely would not have happened!

The only time you ever want to turn off ESP (on a Benz at least) is when
trying to take off from a complete stop or when stuck in the snow. From a
complete stop ESP will not permit any wheel slip and sap a lot of power by
using the breaks to prevent anything burnout like from happening. In the
snow there is always tons of slipping. If ESP is on it can take 10x as long
to get from 0 MPH to 10 MPH as it would with it off. However, you will have
tons of wheel spin.

not to be confused with BMWs ESP.
