Yes, yes it could!!!!
Here's how. Remove 2L engine and management crap, sell it to me. Take cash, 
purchase and install proper diesel engine. See, not so bad. Likely 
cheaper/easier to just find an old Jetta/Golf with the engine already 
mounted in it, and drive that, keeping the silver-blue beastie for fun.
