stereo help...

However, that is not the case for mike. Most component speakers are designed
to function best in a infinite baffle scenario(basically unlimited volume).
His problem lies in the fact that the air being moved by the woofer is not
being isolated allowing the sound waves to essentially mix and cancel each
other out.

Also if your door no longer has the plastic shield on them, the door now
becomes a oversized box for a small speaker and therefore unable to create
(box too big for displament of air) make bass.
Try creating a box behind the speaker.

Bingo.
Look at where the speakers bolt in. There's a gap all around them, thus
making them work in "free air". Ever listen to a sub not in a box?
Personally I like my fronts for teble, not bass. But if it does bother you,
try some custom work on the door panels. Basically you want to isolate the
front of the speaker from the back. Just look up the specs on your speakers
and some info on box building and you can find out what you need for the
sound you like.
I'm no "audiophile" and I don't know everything, but I can hold my own.

your problem is not with the wiring, its with the doors.
try this. fold down the rear seat and remove the hatch cover. then listen to
the stereo. no bass.
bass in the rear is good, as the hatch acts as an enclosure to develop the
bass.
scirocco doors are very poor at developing bass, especially if using 4x6's.
