rear opening windows
Actually you don't need to change the window at all, just pop the window
out, replace the seal with one that permits the glass to lay against (lip
style seal gasket instead of slip into model we use, use the hinges you
have, mark the glass and have a shop cut the holes for you (cost little to
do and a few minutes) and install back on your car :)
Now the question is what car has rear window hinges that would work with our
windows?

Subject: RE:
i actually thought of trying this. i aquired the hinges and latch
mechanisms for the rear pop out windows from a mid 80's cavalier. the size
and shape of the windows are quite similar. the job wouldn't be that hard,
but you'd have to be a little creative. the hinges and latch would have to
be mounted to the window, then mounted in appropriate spots on the inner
window frame. that would be the easy part. the creative part would require
fabricating a lip inside the existing window frame (making the opening
smaller if you will) to create a surface for the window to seal to when
shut. i never got around to trying the project, but have recently thought of
giving it a shot again since i have two wrecked shell to experiment on.
