Mmm, surface rust

Hey guys,

    When I'm gonna sand down the rust on my 81 rocco, is there anything 
other than primer that I can cover it with?  I don't plan on a body job for 
a while, too expensive, not worth it right now, and I don't want to drive 
around with big primer spots on the car.
