Hey gang,
Seeing how it's getting towards the end of March, I guess I
should start figuring a few things out for the big party
'eh?
First of all, the hotel block is set up at the Ramada
again. Book your room asap - they're held until May 14
only. Mention Scirocco.org to get the somewhat discounted
rate. The Ramada's phone number is (937) 283-3200.
For those wanting to rough it, there are a couple
campgrounds in the area according to the Yellow Pages:
-Maple Grove Campground - (937) 382-8685.
-Pine Cove Campground - (937) 382-0806.
-Thousand Trails - (937) 382-5883.
Food. What do we want to do about food this year? Friday
is already set up as the traditional pizza-party. It seems
as though my other half has been good friends with the
proprietor of one of the local pizzerias for years and
we'll be having a bunch delivered on Friday evening for
like $4/per large. Saturday is still wide open at this
point. My neighbors run a catering business and I
approached them last year about doing something small and
simple for the event, but it didn't happen thanks to the
Texas Scirocco Team providing the main course. We could
also do the "traditional" backyard cookout thing too, I
just hate to stick someone with doing the majority of the
cooking / running to the grocery etc. Any other
suggestions? (Oh, besides accomodating the vegetarian
crowd too?)
I do plan on the Saturday Night Videos on the garage wall
unless there's an opposition / suggestion for other
activities. I also plan to be a lot more organized about
it. SO, if you have any videos that you want to share,
plan on burning a copy to CD-ROM for transfer to the hard
drive of whatever computer we end up using for the show.
Saturday - possible activity suggestion: There's an
American Cancer Society / Relay-for-Life car show being
held in the parking lot of where I work. There's no
classes per se, and it's open to *any* vehicle. $10 entry
fee, top 20 cars will be given awards, plus people's choice
etc. ALL proceeds go to the American Cancer Society. To
top it off, it's only about a 10 minute drive from the
house.
That's all I've got for the moment - questions /
suggestions / etc??
