The Speeding Ticket
Ironically, I just got back from a 12hr roundtrip court appearance for a speeding ticket. Had a Failure to Appear, an 11mph ticket (4pt, $88) and not having my ins card. THe way the court worked was there was no judge, just the DA. It was county court, which may be different, but basically you either accepted the plea the DA gave you, or set up another date with the real judge. For some strange reason, all I had to do was show that I currently had insurance and the DA reduced my 11mph ticket to 5mph (1pt, $72), dropped the ins card charge (potentially pretty serious, surprisingly enough) and just charged me $30 for the failure to appear. $192.20 later and I had all the tickets taken care of and my license back (got suspended from the FTA). Hooray! Now, with 70 degree days it's time to put air in the rocc's tires, change the oil and go get myself another speeding ticket!

You were a bit more agressive than I would be... :-) Now, if I lived in
Dallas, I would be right there with you on that... ;-P A lot twistier
highways, it is a lot harder to do that here...
I got popped Sunday before last... Oklahoma City cop on a two-lane divided
highway... I have these dumb Vuarnet sunglasses that are too dark. There he
was, under the bridge, I could not see him at all in the distance (the road
turns to the right just slightly, so the pillar for the above bridge hides the
cop well)... Anyways, I went by him, knew I had been nic'ed, so I just pulled
over. I was doing 80 in a 60, he made it 10 over, which does not go on the
record here... I was glad, I have 10 damn point on my record! I had no idea
until I went to the tag agency the monday following... :-( _
Drive, um, slowly?

PS, I get my Solo 2 radar detector tomorrow! (evil grin)
