overheating..SOLUTIONS TO THIS P.I.T.A.

Not to pick a fight here Ryan, but removing the T-stat is dumb. It is there
to get the engine up to warm up temp faster. Not only does this help with
mileage and emissions, but it helps with engine wear. An engine that is not
at full temperature for any prolonged period of time is more likely to coke-up
in the chamber due to an incomplete burn, which if it coke up there, the rings
and valve seats are next. Cardboard might be able to help you if you cut just
the correct amount, for day X. But not every day has the same temperature,
nor the same duration of it. What's more is it still takes longer for your
engine to warm up than it should, which means more wear... Ask me how I
know...

I am not crazy about drilling a hole in the T-stat, but it would be MUCH
more prefferable to none. Ask any mechanic worth his weight in old VW cores...
