I did not think about the need for the extension through the sandwich
plate. Will a flange from a unit with the water/oil cooler have the
extension? Or does it have different plumbing to route the oil through
the cooler?

If not the flanges are also a few buck from EMPI.

PS- the Oil Filter Flange is a standard one, it just uses a longer
threaded, hollow bolt up the middle to extend past the sandwich plate.
