Friday - what's the fastest you've ever taken your Scirocco?
I've been able to touch 115 on the '84s 120mph speedo on a 2 lane 4mi.
stretch of blacktop by my Mom's house that is so "back roads" that it has
no painted lines, but I have found while cruising with traffic that my speedo
registers 10mph faster than actual speed consistantly (although this has
never been mile marker cross referenced/timed) so that makes it
105mph-ish.
I was very afraid of blowing things up at those RPM's and I swear the
front end "hopped" once from a dip in the road, which is why I'll be
sporting a 16v body kit and (hopefully) a suspension setup to lower
it from stock ride height later this year.
Fastest was in an '70 Opel GT I had in HS that would consistantly do 110
(115 when the exhaust broke @ the downpipe) and felt so solid at those
speeds that I would play "doubles"* all the time in it.
I LOVED that car and it's the reason that I love my Roc today as it's
(Roc) the only car that I've driven that handles as well as the GT. Each
one has their merits and demerits and if I ever win the lottery I'm
getting another GT to go w/ the 3 Roc's I now own.

* Doubles= Take the posted speed limit and double it.
Ignorance is when you don't know anything and somebody finds it out.
