after tracing a monsoon-class leak to the windshield, i took less than an
hour to fix it. using silicone from the hardware store, i just went around
the windshield seal and injected it in the center "channel". after a light
rain yesterday, and a liberal car wash today, the leak seems to be resolved.
thanks to toby for the suggestion and advice for the fix. btw, in order to
definitely see if your windsheild is leaking (without removing the dash),
you can jam a napkin in between the dash and the windshield at the corners.
there's a void there where the napkin will fit. if there's a big leak, the
napkin will get soaked. since (in my case) the windshield leaks under the
carpet, it isn't otherwise obvious where it's coming from.
