Space Ship One is the first PRIVATE ship to enter low earth orbit (>60 
miles) and return.
There is a contest for 10 million US dollars to the first system to take 3 
passengers in to orbit, return and be ready to reuse with in 2 weeks.

The genious Burt Rutan did it. The space ship is carried aloft by a special 
plane to 50,000 ft, released and then the crafts engines start and propel it 
to space.

This step is just as important as the first man in space. History was made 
today.
