Exactly right.. That's the reason the techs on the Mercedes boards
cite when they say don't use the platinum plugs on pre-1998 cars.  The
"hot-fat" spark (of the copper plugs) means the timing of the fuel
charge and the spark is less critical and result is better combustion.
