Rear axle/brake query

p.s. a year ago i rebuilt the rear brakes on the rieger, and didnt install 
the covers (the old ones were rusted). it still looks just fine back there, 
and i drive it daily. i would think you are ok as long as you dont do any 
muddy/sandy driving.
