Checking Spindles

Actually, having cut up several roccos, i can say that the forward
suspension mount points are surprisingly well supported in the vertical
plane. About as much as they are in the horizontal plane (across the car).
They are VERY strong in the fwd/aft horizontal plane, as thats theur main
purpose, but they are more than adequate for lifting the car. I would go as
far as to day that they are a better point for jacking than the stock jack
points (which often crush under the weight), as they are much closer to the
engine mounts, which is the majority of the weight you are trying to jack up
to begin with.

There are probably thousands of A1 owners who lift on that suspension mount
without consequences, so if it works best for you, rock on.

Well, I will prolly be in the minority, again, BUT...

I have been doing this for years (ploy for authority :-)), with cars
that I
have abused with hard cornering, etc. I would not have any objection to
putting them on the round reinforcements if I had a stand that I would
trust
to stay put on the reinforcement. Perhaps if I had a stand that had a
proper
shape to fit around, or up in that bit ...

I do understand, and agree that the vertical plane is not as well
reinforced
in the location I am using, but I have yet to see any damage around these
  areas...
