Keep in mind that early last year the worlds first multimediea virus was
created which can infect those very files you just mentioned.  Now
whoever created was clever, but aparently their coding skillz were less
then standard as there wasn't much mention about it and all AV were
easily updated against it.  But this is more of a warning that nothing
is safe.

Keep a good AV on your system, keep it updated and get yourself behind a
firewall so that if you do get infected, at least the back doors will
have a barrier.
