Tricks for valve retainer keepers?

I think what some people are missing is that Neal is trying to seperate the retainer from the
keepers, not just remove the keepers after they are already loose.
Sometimes the retainer just doesn't want to come down off the keepers and alittle persuasion is
required.
Obviously, this situation is more difficult if the valve isn't being held against its seat for one
reason or another.
