Sunroof repair info needed

I haven't followed this one from the inception, but...
There is a small spring that hooks the headliner panel to the roof
mechanism, just get VW special tool #123 456 789 (fictitious # BTW) , AKA a
coat hanger with a hook bent onto the end, and undo one end of the spring.
You need to tilt the metal roof panel to do this, but it's usually the slide
that goes out, the tilt seems to always work.
Fish around with your "special tool" (yes, that sounds suggestive, I'm aware
of that) , and unhook the spring. Then just slide that puppy straight back,
there are fairly strong clips holding the front of the panel that will
release when you push it. Then all the marvels of the sunroof will be
revealed to you. Oh really watch for rubbing on that outer metal panel when
you do slide it back, it may scratch your paint. And put some masking tape
under the "special tool" to save the paint there too. I use a ton of masking
tape when I'm into the roof repair, and still have a nice gouge.
I still have a few photocopies of the Bentley for sunroof repair if you'd
like, but it'll take two weeks at least for Canada Post to get them to you!
