Battery relocation

I am relocating my battery to the hatch.  I was wondering if it was worth
all the extra width and cost to run 1 gauge welding wire?  I have 2 gauge
battery wire right now.

Also, for those who have already done this.  Is using the car body as a
floating ground good enough. Do you have any cold start problems, etc?  Or
should I run a negative run to the block as well?
