HELP! computer gurus...

Just throwing more things out there:
Is the replacement HD on the same channel as the bad one was?  I.E. Primary master?  If not, put it there just to make sure it's not the controller.  Never seen it myself, but I believe it would be possible to fry only one channel of an IDE controller.
