16v running problem

I just replaced the headgasket on my 1.8 16v.  when I had it sitting to warm up and idle started getting lumpy and it looks like a little smoke is coming out the breather hose.  while it was warming up the coolant fan wouldn't come one.  it just keep getting hooter and hotter until I cut the car off.

Does anyone know what maybe the problem?
