So my Jetta battery died. Looking all over the place calling, turns out that
nobody makes a battery for a 98 Jetta Vr6. Oddly they make one for a '97 and
one for a 2000, but none for a 98 or 99 Jetta Vr6. Wierd huh? I refused to
buy a VW battery for $115, so I began to research. I came accross this link

Which has everything you'd ever want to know about Batteries. I went with
the 2000 Jetta battery which was a group 47 battery, Which my favorite battery
supplier (Walmart) does not carry. Why do I love Walmart batteries? Well
this link just proved what I had always thought. Because Walmart, Sears Diehard,
Autozone, Discount Auto, Cosco, and even Optimas are all the same damn
batteries made by Johnson Controls. So why would I pay 95 dollars for a Diehard when
I can have the same battery for 39 dollars from Walmart? Well I found my
battery at Advanced auto for 65 dollars, more than I wanted to pay but I'll deal
with it. Its got a 3 year free replacement warranty. Well check out the link
http://uuhome.de/william.darden/ its good really good info on Batteries and a
great Battery FAQ.
