sounds like a transfer pump problem to me, it takes about 20-30 minutes for 
gasses to collect in the reservoir and starve the main pump. the reservoir 
gravity fills about 10 minutes after shutdown, then it starts right back up. 
it shouldnt stutter at this point. transfer pump failure results in 'all or 
nothing' fuel system response. if you consistently get sluggish response, 
even after a good start (after sitting for a while), i would follow peters 
advice and go after the distributor.
