Very interesting...  From what I and the fella a the local Porsche dealership can tell, it appears to be lithium grease...  There may be an additive of some sort, I am not sure.  Although thinking about it, I have always noticed that brake cylinders are in sealed bags with a small amount of brake fluid in them.  Perhaps they do this in an effort to do away with this step?  I don't know...

Next time I call VW, I will see if they can shed some light on this...
