JH timing and the Bosch starter

Nope.. I read that some FI systems do retard timing for starting but I
do not know much about FI.  Carburetor based education here.

Cutting the kill switch causes the engine not to fire while activating
the starter.  The flywheel spins up enough momentum to overcome the
resistance of the firing on the compression stroke and when you put
power to the coil it starts.  My theory.

Maybe, but the one I read about was applied to VWs (a/c and w/c),
Audis, Saabs, and others with certain Bosch starters to cure the
solenoid release problem that often happens when the voltage drops to
about 7 as the starter motor engages.

Pertronics points in a recurved vac/centrifical advance distributor.

At 6 degrees, it does this.  At 2 degrees, it does not.
