oil temp
Well, when this was all happening the water temperature on my car showed very close to the center. This was on the interstate in Oklahoma in the summer, moving along at a good rate of speed. The water temperature appeared normal but the oil would get up as high as 120 or 130. It was OK in town, it would eventually calm back down to around 110, also with a normal water temp gauge.
The problem was not with airflow through the radiator, it was either with water flow or how the radiator was conducting heat from the water. I know the airflow was good because I cleaned the outside of the radiator up very well at the time.
I know, it defies logic that the water temperature would stay normal, that's why it took so long for me to find it.
