Lars Bruchmann <pilotlars@yahoo.com> wrote:haha, that is a funny story, i
went to my dealership
to diagnose a 'funny' feeling in the suspension and
steering. they said i needed to replace about $1600
in suspension pieces. then i went to a private guy
who's been working on VWs in the UK and here for
longer than i've been alive. he put my jetta on the
lift, measured some distances, pried with a large
pry-bar, and came to the conclusion that i needed
about $80 in new bushings. my alloy rims and H&R
springs apparently blew them out. the good news about
my VW place is that they either liked me (not too
likely) or took pitty on me (more likely) and the
young guy who rang me up only charged me half price,
of 1 hour of labour, but they had my car over night,
even. so they didn't over charge me, they just
over-diagnosed me. the kicker is their parts guy told
me about the brit!!!
Okay, I gotta come clean... I turned Lars onto the list, and he is speaking
about me in the above story... The Brit he mentions is my mechanic friend
that has taught me so much... I have to toot my own horn here, I finally
have an opportunity to do so... :)
Cheers.

PS--- I take no responsibility for Lars at all. :) He is a VW freak
through and through. How many folks do you know that would take their MK1
apart, paint it, have one door stolen, so he ended up driving it still?
Sorry Lars, I had to... :-o I am sure you will have an opportunity to get
me back...
