MK3 tranny 020 are they stronger??

and from what i have heard they have a problem with the release bearing or the little claw finger that engages the clutch. there was a mk3 (DFQ) trans in my scirocco when i got it. i tookit out. for sale if anyone wants it

I keep seeing people that have a 1.8T swap or a turbo car using the MK3 
trannies. Is this because they are stronger or just easier to come by?

No, it's the gearing, the A3 020's are overdrive trannies with wide gears,
and perfect for forced induction.

The A3 020 is basically the same as a 16V 020 trans, except for the gearing.
