Shit...broken manifold stud

I can now vouch for the candlewax trick.

Yep, I tried the candle thing last weekend and it worked as advertised. I was so stupid I didn't look and I was trying to drive a big bolt into one of the threaded bellhousing mount holes on a big Ford block with my impact wrench. I was trying to put it on my engine stand. It was a blind hole not a through hole like I thought, I thought the threads were just a little crappy. I hammered a grade 5 bolt (like 8.8 metric) in there good and snapped it off flush with the surface.

Building up the bolt with the welder and melting some candlewax into it freed it up very nicely. This was not a bolt properly torqued and just rusted, this was something I hammered in at 450ft/lbs and broke off clean. Came out with a regular sized channel lock pair of pliers with very little effort.

I learned something this week, thanks Mark!!
