My experience with a short shift kit is limited to the one on my car I
found on a junked cabrio that has a 30 pct and 50 pct reduction.  At
30 pct, the changes are perfectly smooth.  At 50 pct, 1 and 2 resist a
bit.  I suspect that the linkage adjustment has to be closer to
perfect at max reduction with any kit.
